Jyoti P. Kakati, Ph.D.
I come from an agricultural family in Assam, India, where farming shaped my childhood and my understanding of how closely life depends on crops and climate. I have received my bachelor's and master's degrees in biotechnology, followed by Ph.D. in Plant Science. Through my academic and research experiences both in India and the US, I have gained expertise in plant physiology and metabolomics, plant transformation and genetic engineering, and biopesticide research. My work explores how plants can be made more resistant to diseases, heat, and drought, while also developing safe and sustainable ways to control harmful fungi that threaten food quality. At its core, my research is driven by a simple goal: to use science to support farmers, protect harvests, and build a more secure and hopeful future for agriculture.
